Sadler, no future at RCR....
It has been made public that Elliot Sadler will not return to RCR next year. Although the points leader in the Nationwide series, Sadler can only hope that he wins the Nationwide tittle. At the Cup level, RCR had all its seats filled at the present time and the foreseeable future with Richard Childress's grand-kids. Driver #33 would love nothing more than to have a shot at another cup ride and RCR just isn't the place for that. Rumors have Sadler going to Joe Gibbs racing in Nationwide and bringing his Financial One sponsorship with him. JGR fields three Cup cars and has plenty of room to add Sadler in the future. Could this have been the decision maker for Sadler ? I would think so. This would be a step in the right direction for Sadler and would give him a full year in Nationwide in order to develop an opportunity with his sponsor and JGR to step up to the next level.
J.D. Gibbs has not confirmed or denied anything on Sadler but has mentioned that they are planning on having two full time Nationwide cars for 2013.
As for RCR, you can expect to see Austin and Ty Dillon compete in the Nationwide series full time in 2013, the two brothers will be facing off under the RCR banner for one year only, it is expected that Austin will be moving up to Sprintcup in 2014.
We an expect a news conference or a press release from Elliot Sadler in the coming weeks to explain all of what his plans are for 2013 and beyond. Stay tuned !!!
